วัดสุทัศนเทพวราราม ราชวรมหาวิหาร
วัดประจำรัชกาลที่ 8
วัดสุทัศนเทพวรารามวรมหาวิหาร หรือ วัดสุทัศน์ ตั้งอยู่บริเวณเสาชิงช้า ตรงข้ามศาลาว่าการกรุงเทพมหานคร แขวงเสาชิงช้า เขตพระนคร เป็นพระอารามหลวงชั้นเอก และเป็นวัดประจำรัชกาลที่ 8 แห่งกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ เดิมชื่อ "วัดมหาสุทธาวาส" วัดนี้เริ่มสร้างเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2350 เสร็จสมบูรณ์ พ.ศ. 2390 ในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 3 และได้รับพระราชทานนามใหม่ว่า "วัดสุทัศนเทพวราราม" ซึ่งเราจะรู้จักกันดีว่าวัดแห่งนี้มีเสาชิงช้าตั้งอยู่บริเวณหน้าวัด ชาวบ้านมักเรียกว่า "วัดเสาชิงช้า"
ที่พระวิหารมี "พระศรีศากยมุนี" เป็นพระประธานซึ่งอัญเชิญมาจากสุโขทัย เป็นพระพุทธรูปปางมารวิชัยหล่อด้วย สำริด ถอดแบบมาจากพระวิหารพระมงคลบพิตร กรุงศรีอยุธยา บานประตูใหญ่ของพระวิหารสลักไม้สวยงามรอบพระวิหาร มีถะ หรือเจดีย์ศิลาแบบจีนตั้งอยู่บนฐานทักษิณ เป็นถะ 6 ชั้น จำนวน 28 องค์ มีพระอุโบสถเป็นที่ประดิษฐาน "พระพุทธตรีโลกเชฏฐ์" เป็นพระประธานปางมารวิชัย ใหญ่กว่าพระที่หล่อในสมัยกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ องค์อื่น ๆ มีภาพจิตรกรรมฝาผนังอันเป็นฝีมือช่างชั้นครูในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 3 ที่งดงามมาก พระอุโบสถนี้นับว่ายาวที่สุดในประเทศไทย นอกจากนี้ ยังมีศาลาการเปรียญที่มี "พระพุทธเสรฏฐมุนี" เป็นพระประธานที่หล่อด้วยกลักฝิ่นเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2382 ในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 3 เช่นกัน
ภายในวัดสุทัศนเทพวรารามเป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระบรมราชานุสาวรีย์ พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวอานันทมหิดล (รัชกาลที่ 8) พระอัฐมรามาธิบดินทร และได้อัญเชิญ พระบรมราชสรีรางคารของพระองค์ มาบรรจุที่ผ้าทิพย์ด้านหน้าพุทธบัลลังก์พระศรีศากยมุนีเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2493 และมีพระราชพิธีทรงบำเพ็ญพระราชกุศลคล้ายวันสวรรคตของพระบาทสมเด็จพระปรเมนทรมหาอานันทมหิดล พระอัฐมรามาธิบดินทรในวันที่ 9 มิถุนายนของทุกปี
