วัดเชิงท่า อยุธยา
วัดเชิงท่า เป็นวัดราษฎร์สังกัดคณะสงฆ์ฝ่ายมหานิกาย ตั้งอยู่ริมแม่น้ำลพบุรี ในตำบลท่าวาสุกรี อำเภอพระนครศรีอยุธยา จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา
วัดเชิงท่า มีหลายชื่ออย่าง วัดตีนท่า หรือ วัดติณ หรือ วัดคลัง หรือ วัดโกษาวาสน์ หรือ วัดคอยท่า ไม่มีหลักฐานแน่ชัดว่าสร้างขึ้นเมื่อใด ใครเป็นผู้สร้าง มีเรื่องเล่าว่า เศรษฐีผู้หนึ่งสร้างเรือนหอให้แก่บุตรสาวซึ่งหนีตามชายคนรักไปแล้วไม่ย้อนกลับ เศรษฐีผู้บิดาคอยบุตรสาวอยู่นานไม่เห็นกลับมาจึงได้ถวายเรือนหอนั้นให้แก่วัดที่ตนสร้างขึ้น จึงเป็นที่มาของชื่อ "วัดคอยท่า" ในรัชกาลสมเด็จพระนารายณ์มหาราช มีหลักฐานว่าเมื่อครั้งเจ้าพระยาโกษาธิบดี (ปาน) เป็นราชทูต กลับจากประเทศฝรั่งเศสแล้วได้ปฏิสังขรณ์วัดนี้และเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น "วัดโกษาวาส" ในรัชกาลสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวบรมโกศ ได้มีการปฏิสังขรณ์วัดนี้อีกครั้งหนึ่ง
สำนักโบราณคดี กรมศิลปากรได้กำหนดเป็นโบราณสถานที่สำคัญ เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2540 วัดเชิงท่าแบ่งพื้นที่ได้เป็น 2 ส่วน คือ ส่วนกลุ่มโบราณสถานและส่วนสังฆาวาส โบราณสถานประกอบด้วย ปรางค์ วิหาร เจดีย์ ศาลาการเปรียญ อุโบสถ หอระฆัง และแนวกำแพงแก้ว
ปรางค์ประธาน ลักษณะเป็นปรางค์สมัยอยุธยามีอายุประมาณพุทธศตวรรษที่ 22 องค์ปรางค์ตั้งอยู่บนฐานไพที เป็นฐานสูงรูปสี่เหลี่ยมจัตุรัส ยาวด้านละ 9.70 เมตร บนฐานไพทีประดับด้วยปรางค์มุขขนาดเล็ก จึงทำให้เห็นเป็นปรางค์ 5 ยอด ส่วนฐานที่ยื่นออกเป็นมุขจากองค์ปรางค์อีก 3 ด้าน คือ ด้านทิศตะวันออก ทิศตะวันตก และทิศเหนือ ส่วนด้านทิศใต้มีวิหารเชื่อมต่อออกมาแทตำแหน่งที่เป็นมุข
วิหารเป็นส่วนที่เชื่อมต่อจากมุขปรางค์ไปทางทิศใต้ มีขนาดกว้าง 10 เมตร ยาว 22 เมตร ภายในวิหารประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปซึ่งเป็นพระพุทธรูปที่หล่อขึ้นใหม่ จำนวน 2 องค์ เจดีย์รายตั้งอยู่บริเวณหน้าวิหารและอุโบสถมีเจดีย์หลายรูปแบบจำนวนมาก ทั้งเจดีย์เหลี่ยม เจดีย์กลม และองค์ระฆังเป็นกลีบมะเฟือง เป็นต้น
ศาลาการเปรียญเป็นอาคารสร้างใหม่ในสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ประมาณรัชกาลพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว กว้าง 11.30 เมตร ยาว 37.12 เมตร ตัวอาคารก่ออิฐถือปูน ยกพื้นสูง บริเวณผนังอาคารเจาะเป็นช่องหน้าต่าง 7 ช่อง ส่วนที่เป็นฐานก่อซุ้มโค้งเป็นช่องตรงกับหน้าต่าง พื้นและหลังคาเป็นเครื่องไม้ มุงกระเบื้องลด 3 ชั้น ส่วนที่เป็นหน้าบันแกะจำหลักด้วยลวดลายกระหนก ประกอบภาพเทพนมตรงกลาง มีเครื่องลำยอง ที่ใต้หน้าบันมีสาหร่ายรวงผึ้งจำหลักลายประดับกระจกสี (ปัจจุบันอยู่ในสภาพชำรุด) ภาพจำหลักไม้เหล่านี้เป็นฝีมือช่างเก่าที่สร้างขึ้นในสมัยอยุธยาตอนปลาย ประมาณรัชกาลสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวบรมโกศ ภายในศาลาการเปรียญมีจิตรกรรมฝาผนัง เป็นภาพเขียนสีแบบไทย
บริเวณทางทิศใต้ของวัดในอดีตคือคูไม้ร้อง ในประชุมพงศาวดารภาคที่ 63 เรื่องกรุงเก่า ซึ่งพระยาโบราณราชธานินทร์ (พร เดชะคุปต์) เป็นผู้เรียบเรียงและจัดทำแผนที่ได้กล่าวถึงโรงเก็บเรือพระที่นั่งใต้วัดเชิงท่า ซึ่งเป็นจุดเดียวกับที่ซีมง เดอ ลาลูแบร์ ราชทูตฝรั่งเศสที่เข้ามาในรัชสมัยของสมเด็จพระนารายณ์มหาราช ได้จดบันทึกไว้จึงสันนิษฐานได้ว่าโรงเก็บเรือพระที่นั่งแห่งนี้มีมาตั้งแต่รัชสมัยของสมเด็จพระนารายณ์มหาราชเป็นอย่างน้อย ต่อมาในประชุมพงศาวดารเล่มเดียวกันได้มีการบันทึกเพิ่มเติมว่าในช่วงก่อนเสียกรุงศรีอยุธยาครั้งที่ 2 สมเด็จพระเจ้าเอกทัศน์โปรดให้ถอยเรือพระที่นั่งทั้งหมดลงไปไว้ท้ายคู แต่ในที่สุดกองทัพพม่าก็เข้าตีท้ายคูจนแตกเผาทำลายเรือพระที่นั่งเป็นจำนวนมาก คูไม้ร้องแห่งนี้เคยถูกใช้เป็นสถานที่จอดและเก็บรักษาเรือหลวงพระที่นั่งในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาจนถึงรัชสมัยของสมเด็จพระเจ้าเอกทัศน์ กษัตริย์องค์สุดท้ายของกรุงศรีอยุธยา
ส่วนสังฆาวาส เป็นที่ตั้งของอาคารเสนาสนะ กุฏิสงฆ์ ตั้งอยู่บริเวณนอกกำแพงแก้วทางด้านทิศตะวันออก
อุโบสถมีขนาดกว้าง 7.5 เมตร ยาว 18 เมตร ลักษณะฐานแอ่นเป็นท้องสำเภา มีเฉพาะพระประธานภายในพระอุโบสถ เป็นพระพุทธรูปประทับนั่งขัดสมาธิราบปางมารวิชัย ทำด้วยปูนปั้นปิดทองทึบ
หอระฆังสร้างแบบก่ออิฐถือปูนทรงมณฑป ผนังทั้ง 4 ด้านเปิดโล่งเป็นช่องรูปกลีบบัว ตกแต่งขอบด้วยการปั้นปูนเป็นเส้นเกลียวประดับลายกนกผักกูด ที่มุมทั้ง 4 ทำเป็นเสาหลอก ปลายเสาเป็นกลีบบัวจงกลหรือบัวแวง ยอดเป็นบัวคลุ่มหรือบัวกลุ่ม ส่วนปลียอดหักพังไปแล้ว เหลือเพียงลวดลายปูนปั้นพันธุ์พฤกษาบางส่วนเท่านั้น ฐานก่อด้วยอิฐขนาดใหญ่รองรับชุดฐานบัวคว่ำบัวหงายซึ่งยืดส่วนหน้ากระดานจนสูงเพื่อรองรับส่วนที่เป็นที่แขวนระฆังอีกชั้นหนึ่ง วิหารน้อยเป็นอาคารเล็ก ๆ ก่ออิฐสอปูน แผนผังรูปสี่เหลี่ยมผืนผ้า
