[2] กาแล็กซี่ หรือ ดาราจักร (Galaxy)
กาแล็กซี่ คือ ระบบที่กว้างใหญ่ไพศาล ประกอบด้วยดาวฤกษ์ กระจุกดาวฤกษ์ ก๊าซและฝุ่น ท้องฟ้า ที่เรียกว่า เนบิวล่า และที่ว่าง ( Space) รวมกันอยู่ในระบบเดียวกัน เพราะมีแรงโน้มถ่วงซึ่งกันและกัน
กาแล็กซี่ ถือเป็นองค์ประกอบหนึ่งของเอกภพ เกิดมาเมื่อประมาณ 18,000 ล้านปีมาแล้ว ประมาณว่าในเอกภพมีดาราจักรถึง 100,000 ล้านระบบ และเชื่อว่า ดาวฤกษ์ต่างๆรวมทั้งดวงอาทิตย์ ซึ่งเป็นศูนย์กลางของระบบสุริยะ ต่างก็เคลื่อนรอบศูนย์กลางของกาแล็กซี่ด้วยแรงโน้มถ่วงระหว่างดางฤกษ์กับสิ่งที่อยู่ ณ ใจกลางของกาแล็กซี่ ซึ่งมีแรงโน้มถ่วงสูงมาก
นักดาราศาสตร์เชื่อว่าสิ่งนี้คือ หลุมดำ (Blank Hole) ซึ่งเชื่อว่ามีความลึกไม่มีที่สิ้นสุด สิ่งต่างๆ เมื่อหลุดเข้าไปไม่สามารถออกมาได้
